Managerial Economics & Environmental Performances-Free-Samples

Questions: 1.Given the estimated profits and probability values for the three projects are accurate, describe the approach you would use to determine the priority order of the three projects. How does the initial capital cost influence your recommendation about the priority order of the projects? 2.Are there other factors beyond those in the case that you believe would be useful to know prior to making a decision on which projects would be better in the long run? 3.Given the estimated profit levels and associated probabilities in the three projects described in the data set, determine the expected profit for each. Continue the analysis for determining the prioritization of the projects using the approach you described earlier. 4.Provide an appropriate narrative of your results, including an explanation of why you believe which one or more of the projects is likely to support the long term viability of ECCO A/S and its future in the market. Answers: 1.The initial cost of the project is around 50 million. It provides the outline of the project and guidelines of the market price of the initial cost associated with the capital. The profit of the three sectors of the production plan, marketing program and distribution program all are based on the initial capital cost (Achim Borlea, 2014). The profits are also determinate on the base of the capital cost. It works as the benchmark on evaluating the projects (Masiukiewicz Dec, 2013). The guideline which has been provided in the excel format are the profits on the following years, the probability of the returns. The first step is to calculate the actual return based on the profitability of the given years on every program or project. Then we can etermine the actual return on that year. Then we can implement the application of the Net present value method to determine the actual return on the capital (Joller, 2015). We also ought to analysis which year the returns are the best on that certain series. Then we need to compare all the three projects or the program and find out which are the best combination of all times. Then we can suggest the management based on those calculations (Petty, 2015). At last we have to analysis the demand of the product in the market, the current market share of the product and the cost associate with every unit of production. The provided data is useful to determine the micro analysis part of the investment. There are also many more factors to determine the analysis of he investment. Those are micro analysis of the investment such as the technology which they are going to implement, the tax structure of the particular area that they are going to operate, current market scenario of the product and many more (Darpizio, 2015). Another fact is also that the market is based on the projected sales of a certain period of the time. If there is an increase or decrease of the certain product or industry then how they are going to effect in the sales. In the marketing strategy there it is not mentioned that which tools that they are going to implement and finally what are the distribution tools that they are going to project as per the supply chain management (Subacchi et al., 2015) . 3.For New Production Plan - New Production Plan Profits in Millions Probability Probable Profit -40 0.05 -2 45 0.15 6.75 65 0.3 19.5 90 0.25 22.5 102 0.25 25.5 Well from the above statement it shows that the highest probability of the profit 0.25 which lies between 90 and 102. Therefore it can be stated that the profit lies between 90 and 102. The average of the profit is 96, which lies closely to 90. Therefore assuming the circumstances of the organisation if the statement has taken the 90, then the profit lies in the 25.5 %. We can easily state that the organisation is going to have a profit at least 22.5 millions on the average of the respective years. The investment which is 50 million dollars, then the return on capital would be around 2 years on the life span of the investment. New Marketing Profits in Millions Probability Probable Profit 10 0.1 1 33 0.1 3.3 55 0.15 8.25 80 0.3 24 95 0.35 33.25 Well form the above statement shows that highest profits lies between 80 and 95 profits in millions. The probabilities of these profits are 0.3 and 0.35 which are the highest in that segment (Khalili-Damghani Sadi-Nezhad, 2013). It is determined that the profit would be between 80 and 95 millions. Based on the average of both are around 88, which is close to 95. Then we state that the return on the profit would be around 30 million dollars. The investment which is 35 million pounds would be payback within 1.5 years easily. New Distribution Programme Profits in Millions Probability Probable Profit -20 0.075 -1.5 25 0.15 3.75 55 0.2 11 75 0.225 16.875 55 0.35 19.25 The investment in the distribution program is around 22 million pounds. The probability of 75 million profit which lies 0.225, states that the probable profit is around 16.875 and in the 55 million profits which is having a probability of 0.35 is the probable profit of 19.25 million dollars. Therefore we can state that 18.0575 is the profit on the average. As the investment suggested the return on capital would be 1.21 years approximately. On the conclusion we can state that the probability of the including on the overall aspect of the production plan would be around (90- 102). In the case of marketing scenario it lies in (80 95) and finally the distribution program it lies in (55-75). On the overall we can state that the organisation if going to invest in the three aspects the return on capital would be around 1.5 to 2 years respectively. 4.Well in the long run the scenario may differ from the current one. It may include on the overall basis of the probability. The occurrence may happen on the basis of the long term effect. In the production, marketing and distribution we have to look after all the above all average on the profits and probability (Chong Tuckett, 2014). In that scenario we have to take the management overall average of both the probability and profits. In the first production plant analysis we can state that the total profit is around 262 million and probable profit is around 72.25 million dollars. Therefore the average is 14.45. If we take the average then the return on the investment would be 3.46 years on the investment which would be lower compare to the current one. In the case of new marketing the return on the capital would be around 3.91 years which is again a long term from the current one. Therefore if we take probability of the overall investment in the case of the distribution program then the return on capital would be again 3.85 years. So, if we look the investment from the long term point of view we could state that the return on capital would be around on the average of 4 years. Therefore it is certain that the return on the overall 107 million dollars investment would take approx 4 years in the long run. Reference List Achim, M. V., Borlea, S. N. (2014). The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson Essay Example For Students

The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson Essay The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a novella written by Robert Louis Stevenson. It was first published in 1885 and was a huge success selling 40,000 copies in its first 6 months. This success was partly due to the novels theme of multiple personality as not much had been read into this disorder when the novel was written, therefore many Victorians seemed to have a particular interest in this subject. One of the concepts Stevenson was trying to promote in the novella was that there was a beast in man; a bad side to everyone. Following the recent release of The Origin of Species, a book about evolution and how we evolved from apes, this made readers even more interested in the story. There were also the Whitechapel murders that took place during 1888 that many said were related to the play version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and, inevitably, the play was eventually cancelled. The novella concerns a scientist called Henry Jekyll who is a very kind, peaceful man but in secret develops a drug allowing his dark, animalistic, and murderous side to exist as a man called Edward Hyde. This allows Dr. We will write a custom essay on The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Jekyll to act in ways he feels he normally cant do. In todays society, however this novella has become less dramatic and effective as more readers have knowledge of Stevensons final twist. People now are also much more aware of the multiple personality disorder as well as there being many films and books with similar themes. In turn, this means many more readers will learn the twist that Dr. Jekyll is in fact Mr. Hyde. This aside the story is still interesting in many ways such as instances like people not fully thinking about the two different sides of every person until they read the book. Also, people may like it for the historical knowledge that Jack the Ripper may have used ideas shown in the novella in the Whitechapel murders. Victorian society was often hypocritical in nature which is well reflected in the characters. One of these characters is Dr. Jekyll. One of the ways his dual personality is shown is through the back door of his house. Here his back door is run down and very shabby, whereas his front door is perfectly nice, like any other in the street. His run down back door relates to the evil in Mr.  Hyde. The door was blistered and distained. Mr. Utterson also shows a particularly obvious dual personality. He is a well respected man in the novella who is extremely inclined to help rather that reprove. He never drinks at parties and even though he enjoys it greatly will never go to the theatre. Though he enjoyed the theatre, had not crossed the doors of one for twenty years. This is mainly due to him wanting to be perceived as a respectable man but he is still envious of anyone that has fun. Not only such dual personalities have related well to a Victorian reader, their duality makes them complex, mysterious and therefore more interesting. The setting of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is in Soho which is a small, dilapidated area of London. This area is home to the working class and poorer community where there is a very large crime rate, especially compared to the very respectable and upper-class West End which surrounds it. The West End is one of the most prestigious parts of London which is very affluent, full of rich and respectable people. This difference is symbolic of Jekyll and Hydes relationship. Dr. Jekyll can be portrayed as the West- End whereas Mr. Hyde can be seen as Soho, the darker more horrible side. Pathetic fallacy is also used. This attributes human feelings to inanimate objects. The fog still slept The weather adds a false sense of security before the murder of Sir Danvers Carew. The early part of the night was cloudless, and the lane, which the maids window, which the lane overlooked was brilliantly lit by the full moon .u8e8d560a19458ebb6c1c6f4bfa05a634 , .u8e8d560a19458ebb6c1c6f4bfa05a634 .postImageUrl , .u8e8d560a19458ebb6c1c6f4bfa05a634 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u8e8d560a19458ebb6c1c6f4bfa05a634 , .u8e8d560a19458ebb6c1c6f4bfa05a634:hover , .u8e8d560a19458ebb6c1c6f4bfa05a634:visited , .u8e8d560a19458ebb6c1c6f4bfa05a634:active { border:0!important; } .u8e8d560a19458ebb6c1c6f4bfa05a634 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u8e8d560a19458ebb6c1c6f4bfa05a634 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u8e8d560a19458ebb6c1c6f4bfa05a634:active , .u8e8d560a19458ebb6c1c6f4bfa05a634:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u8e8d560a19458ebb6c1c6f4bfa05a634 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u8e8d560a19458ebb6c1c6f4bfa05a634 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u8e8d560a19458ebb6c1c6f4bfa05a634 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u8e8d560a19458ebb6c1c6f4bfa05a634 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u8e8d560a19458ebb6c1c6f4bfa05a634:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u8e8d560a19458ebb6c1c6f4bfa05a634 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u8e8d560a19458ebb6c1c6f4bfa05a634 .u8e8d560a19458ebb6c1c6f4bfa05a634-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u8e8d560a19458ebb6c1c6f4bfa05a634:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: William Golding's Lord Of The Flies EssayThe moon here is used to create a romantic and peaceful atmosphere, so when the murder takes place its even more shocking and unexpected as no one suspects bad deeds to occur during these nice conditions. There are three narrators in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. These are Dr. Lanyon, Mr. Utterson and Dr. Jekyll. The use of these three narrators aids our understanding of these individual characters and their thoughts which is knowledge we wouldnt have achieved without this narrative technique. I have since had reason to believe the cause to lie much deeper in the nature of man, and to turn on some nobler hinge than the principle of hatred This also makes the characters appear more interesting as we come to know them better. However, this doesnt help our understanding of the current events in the plot because all the narrators have different ideas and a different understanding of the events. This keeps the novella mysterious and keeps the readers curiosity high as they are made to wait to discover the full extent of the events. The narrators are many reliable witnesses which makes readers even more inclined to believe the sources. They include doctors and lawyers such as Mr. Utterson who are seen as highly respectable people who would have no thought to lie. Mr Utterson is described as lovable. No one would question his word. This adds believability to the novella and makes certain events to become more surprising and dramatically effective. The genre of the novella is at first quite unclear. Detective, horror, mystery or gothic are all possibilities. It may be a detective story as r. Utterson is constantly trying to find out who this Mr.  Hyde really is and where he has come from. The novella has elements of horror because of all the gruesome murders that are taking place. In my opinion the novella was a surprisingly gripping read as, even though I had previously heard about the final twist it was still exiting. Personally I thought having several characters narrating throughout the novella was interesting as it demonstrated the different personalities of the characters well. I will take away a small amount from this novella knowing that ever person does have a dual personality and people arent always as they first appear.

Technology help

Technology help Introduction For a considerable period now, the United States has been among the world’s most developed countries. Majority of the industrial machines originate from the U.S. The medical industries developed rapidly due to the creative skills of the American men like Charles Darwin and Francis Galton among others. Regrettably, the rate of creativity, especially amongst the youths, has rapidly declined due to the emergence of technology in contemporary times.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Technology help American become more knowledgeable specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Most young people, especially those at the school going age, are techno-savvy; thus, they cannot survive without the use of computers, mobile phones, and other gadgets in their daily routine. With the extinction of the old creative generation, the US is yet to face the worst of intellectual disability. Although the use of technological devic es like computers, robots, mobile phones and other machineries has made life simpler, the youths have not only become redundant or ignorant but also have lost the power to create. Technology might be a new form of literacy; however, its uncontrolled use and misuse has pushed the US into intellectual oblivion. The United States’ Woes Despite the fact that technology came to the rescue of several areas in the society, youths, especially those in the universities and high schools, rely heavily on the technology. Consequently, the education sector has become useless because students cannot pass their exams or assignments without using computers. Personally, I see my fellow students using Google to download their assignments and other research papers needed in the course work. Thus, nobody uses his or her mind to produce original assignments; regrettably, the class assignments are full of plagiarism. Furthermore, during classes, students concentrate heavily on their mobile phones, surfing the internet instead of listening to the lecturers. I hold that, if a survey was conducted today, most students would advise institutions to invest more in the Internet than in library resources. Therefore, the current education is not only producing half-baked graduates, but also ignorant people.Advertising Looking for essay on other technology? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Sciences, especially mathematics, are one of the difficult subjects to the youths or students in the US. Scientists have resolved to use the robots to solve problems. Although the innovative scientists are old, the younger generations should use their skills. For instance, if a student uses the computer/internet service or a robot to solve his or her sums, s/he decreases the level of his/her intellectual capability. In addition, due to ‘copy pasting’ of class work from the internet or fellow students, the rate of knowledg e in the US is on the declined. For instance, the number of innovations in the twenty first century is very low compared to the innovations of the nineteenth or eighteenth centuries. One wonders, does it mean that there is nothing to discover or is it that the current generation cannot think? I think the latter makes some sense. Therefore, although students may end up in universities, most of them are not only ignorant, but also present themselves as illiterate or morons in the employment sector. Communication is one of the vital aspects needed in the progression or advancement of a nation; unfortunately, technology has ended up being a social barrier not only in the US, but also across the world. With the emergence of mobile phones, people interact less (Morino par.7), and even some employers carry out interviews using computer packages like Skype. With constant interaction, people discuss ideas, which later lead to valid or outstanding skills helpful in building a nation. Currentl y, in corporate meetings, educational forums, and other social gatherings, people do not draw their attention to the speaker; no, they are on their phones or laptops. Therefore, in social forums people discuss fewer ideas and interact less due to the divided attention.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Technology help American become more knowledgeable specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More During the nineteenth century, most intellects or youths converged to discuss the way forward in solving emerging social problems in their vicinity. Nowadays, if the youths are not listening to music or watching a film, they are on Facebook or twitter among other social sites. Therefore, the lack of computers and handsets in the old generation produced not only intellectuals or scholars, but also innovators, which is contrary to the current generation. The current children/youths can neither think nor use their minds to solve a classica l problem in class. The result of this ‘intelligence’ catastrophe is ‘half-baked’ graduates who cannot even write a resume or a cover letter. Is Technology that bad, after all In the face of the negative things attached to technology, the most prodding question remains; is technology that bad after all. In my opinion, it is not. Every story has two sides and looking at the other side of technology unveils rich positive attributes to the benefit of the society. In the wake of the contemporary technological revolution, education has become realizable to people who could not achieve it hitherto. Online courses are now available, an aspect that renders time and space useless in terms of communication and connectivity (Mackenzie and Wajcman 26). Students can now complete their studies regardless of location. Moreover, for the wise, technology offers a rich source of invaluable information that can be used to hone one’s intelligence. Technology avails a wi de range of information, which empowers those willing and wise enough to utilize it. Knowledge is power, and by availing knowledge to people, technology gives power to the same. Therefore, in my opinion, technology is not bad at all, only that people do not want to use it rightly. In addition, technology has ameliorated the filed of medicine in the contemporary times. Studies show that people that suffer from certain diseases in their childhood have impaired reasoning abilities. Fortunately, technology has ensured that our children grow healthy, free from preventable diseases. This aspect allows our children to grow into capable adults who can reason competently (Guston 15). Therefore, the lucky individuals, those who do not get carried away by the hype that is killing our intelligence, have benefitted enormously from technology because they grow to become intelligent people. For instance, we have seen how technology can work for the god of those who use it sagely.Advertising Looking for essay on other technology? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Think of Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, and Mark Elliot Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook. These two examples tell me that technology can be utilized for the benefit of the society if we think straight. Conclusion The US has the best experts in all sectors especially in the medical industry. Unfortunately, with the emergence and improvement of technology, the youths have not only become ignorant, redundant, or unknowledgeable but also uncreative, antisocial, and lazy. The education sector in the US produces poor scholars without innovative skills, with poor reading, writing, and observation skills. Students cannot think of their own; they rely on resources availed by technology to solve the simplest of issues like completing a simple assignment. Computers and mobile phones have produced a generation with poor listening and communication skills. On the other hand, the use of technology like the application of the PCR helps the current generation to solve many social problems like rape and other crimes. Therefore, technology in itself is not ‘bad’; however, people make it ‘bad’ through misuse or overuse. Guston, David. Word Choice Born vs. Borne - Proofread My Papers Academic Blog

Word Choice Born vs. Borne - Proofread My Papers Academic Blog Word Choice: Born vs. Borne The words â€Å"born† and â€Å"borne† are spelled almost the same but differ in meaning. Getting these terms mixed up can therefore impact upon the clarity and accuracy of your written work. To help you avoid this kind of mistake, we’ve compiled a guide on how these terms should be used. Born (in the USA) When Bruce Springsteen sang that he was â€Å"born in a dead man’s town† he was using the word in its literal sense, meaning â€Å"existing as a result of birth.† This is why we say that someone born in a certain place was place-born (e.g., German-born, Canada-born, etc.): New Jersey-born soccer player Carli Loyd was instrumental in the USWNT’s World Cup victory. In a more figurative sense, we sometimes use â€Å"born† to mean â€Å"arising from/of†: Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein was born of a competition between Shelley and her companions to see who could write the best horror story. Furthermore, if someone has undergone a major change in their life we might say they have been â€Å"born again† (such as a â€Å"born again Christian†). Borne The word â€Å"borne† is the past participle of the verb â€Å"bear.† It therefore means â€Å"to have carried†: On Palm Sunday, Jesus entered Jerusalem borne on the back of a donkey. This is why we use adjectives like â€Å"waterborne† or â€Å"current-borne† when describing something carried by something else (e.g., â€Å"an airborne virus†). Another way in which we use this term is to indicate that someone has taken responsibility for something: The upgrade had been expensive, but the company had borne the brunt of the costs. The term â€Å"borne out,† meanwhile, means to corroborate or confirm something: The scientist’s hypothesis was not borne out by the experiments she conducted. Borne vs. Bore It’s worth noting that the verb â€Å"bear† has another past participle: bore. The difference between â€Å"borne† and â€Å"bore† is that the former is passive and the latter is active. So if we’re using the active voice, in which the subject of the sentence is actively bearing something, we use â€Å"bore†: The palm tree bore coconuts. But when using the passive voice the subject of the sentence is not doing anything, so we use â€Å"borne†: The coconuts were borne by the palm tree. It’s therefore important to remember the distinction between â€Å"bore† and â€Å"borne,† as well as the difference between â€Å"born† and â€Å"borne.†

International Human Resource Management Literature review

International Human Resource Management - Literature review Example Pancevo which operates with three different brands Weissar, Karlbrew and Starivo, merged with Eden Brewery which operates in Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Moldova and Kasakhstan. The joint venture was officially registered on the 25th of August 2003 and the company was renamed Eden Weisser. After the joint venture Eden not only injected a good flow of capital into the organisation but also resorted to quality enhancement measures such as pasteurisation, product rebranding with a new logo, reshaping the bottles and crates, introducing new plastic bottles and relaunching the Weisser brand. Problems in an International Joint Venture The most important feature of any joint venture is the cross cultural differences that two or more organisations located in different countries have to undergo. Cultural differences often influence the manner in which the partners in the joint venture make strategic decisions and solve problems. For example, the Japanese organisations tend to see interfirm allia nces primarily as interpersonal relationships whereas American organisations view them as endurance of design irrespective of the specific managers that are involved. However, unequal distribution of ownership gives majority shareholders greater power which can be detrimental to the interest of t he minority owner. A balanced ownership is always advocated so the partners’ bargaining power is evenly matched. Ventures that have split ownership have greater chances of success than the ventures that are dominated by one company. Performance of ventures with a shared rate of control is greater. For example, one organisation has a mechanistic culture that is bureaucratic and hierarchal with clearly defined rules and regulations. The other organisation has an organic culture which means that the organisational structure is informal, non-bureaucratic and decentralised. These fundamental differences in culture will result in a severe conflict in the organisation. It was found out that the mutual understanding of each other`s culture is very essential to a successful relationship between two companies. Expatriation management is also an important feature of any cross-cultural joint venture. Expatriates assignment predominantly
